About the Role

The Resident Coordinator is a live-in professional staff position within the Office of Residence Life, responsible for supporting daily operations, supervising student staff, fostering a safe and inclusive community, and responding to student needs and emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Train, supervise, and evaluate Resident Assistant (RA) staff.
  • Maintain regular office hours and ensure consistent accessibility to residents, families, student staff, and professional colleagues.
  • Oversee residence hall operations, including room assignments, RCRs, health and safety inspections, fire drills, damage assessment, and billing.
  • Coordinate residence hall opening and closing procedures.
  • Participate in the professional staff on-call rotation, responding to emergencies and various residential needs.
  • Provide crisis intervention and emergency response support for physical and mental health concerns, behavioral incidents, and other emergencies.
  • Coordinate with Public Safety, Counseling Services, Health Services, facilities staff, and other campus partners.
  • Support students experiencing interpersonal conflicts, emotional distress, or behavioral concerns through guidance and referrals.
  • Investigate alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct and Residence Hall Handbook.
  • Collaborate with Public Safety and campus partners to promote a safe, secure, welcoming, and inclusive residential environment.
  • Develop and implement programs to promote student engagement, well-being, leadership, and community building.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student concerns, incidents, and operations.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, assessment, and emergency preparedness initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Four (4) years of related professional experience in higher education, student affairs, residence life, housing, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Social Work, College Student Personnel, or a related field (preferred).
  • Two to four years of progressively responsible professional experience in residence life, housing, student affairs, or a related area (preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student personnel administration, residential program management, student development, group and organizational dynamics, and crisis response.
  • Experience supervising student staff and managing residential community operations.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and foster an inclusive residential community.
