About the Role

The Managing Director (MD) Private Pension Plans is responsible for the effective management of people, resources, supervisory frameworks, processes, and systems supporting the oversight of federally regulated private pension plans. The MD provides advice to OSFI’s executive leadership on issues, emerging risks, and areas of concern related to their assigned pension plans. The MD represents OSFI in discussions with industry stakeholders, pension associations, other pension regulators, government departments and agencies, and contributes to domestic and international pension supervisory initiatives. Additionally, the MD contributes to the strategic direction of the sector and fosters a collaborative, high-performing work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Effective management of people, resources, supervisory frameworks, processes, and systems supporting the oversight of federally regulated private pension plans.
  • Building and maintaining strong partnerships and ensuring effective collaboration between teams and key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Providing advice to OSFI’s executive leadership on issues, emerging risks, and areas of concern related to assigned pension plans.
  • Representing OSFI in discussions with industry stakeholders, pension associations, other pension regulators, government departments, and agencies.
  • Contributing to domestic and international pension supervisory initiatives.
  • Contributing to the strategic direction of the sector.
  • Fostering a collaborative, high-performing work environment within the Private Pensions Plans area and across OSFI.

Requirements

  • A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in business, commerce, economics, finance, mathematics, actuarial science, accounting, or another related field OR an acceptable combination of relevant experience AND education or training.
  • Leadership experience at the senior management level (director level or equivalent) in managing a team.
  • Significant experience (defined as 5 years) in pension plans, retirement income systems, pension regulation, pension administration, pension governance, and pension risk management.
  • Significant experience leading complex, high-profile, or multi-disciplinary initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Significant experience building collaborative relationships and influencing decision-making at senior levels within and across organizations.
  • Knowledge of the pension sector, including pension plan governance, funding, administration, investment, risk management, or regulatory oversight.
  • Knowledge of emerging economic, demographic, financial, labour market, and public policy developments affecting pension plans and retirement income systems.
  • Knowledge of legislative and regulatory frameworks applicable to pension plans or pension plan administrators.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Canada when required.
  • Security – Reliability Status.
  • The ability to work remotely from home within Canada with access to the Internet in one’s residence is a condition of employment.
  • Working on-site on a full-time basis from the OSFI office.
  • Agreement to be deployed into another REX position within OSFI at the same level.

Salary/Compensations

  • $202,700.00 - $253,300.00
