About the Role
Liberty LEADS seeks two instructors to facilitate weekly College/Career Exploration II and/or III courses on Saturdays for high school juniors and seniors. These courses aim to equip students with college and career readiness skills, including college-level writing, resume building, and demystifying the admissions and financial aid processes. The role involves expanding on previous curriculum components to help students apply their interests and academic profiles to the postsecondary process, developing components of their college applications.
Responsibilities
- Create, adapt, and implement a college exploration curriculum for groups of 10 students online or up to 25 students in person.
- Engage students and modify curriculum according to their needs and the medium being used, with assistance from the Liberty LEADS High School Advisor.
- If classes switch to online, instructors must have reliable Wi-Fi and computers, with cameras on at all times to encourage student communication and participation.
- Manage in-person and remote classrooms using positive behavior management strategies.
- Meet regularly with the Liberty LEADS Middle School Coordinator for supervision and debriefing.
- Prepare a presentation with students for the 'end of year' celebration.
- Provide lesson plans to the supervisor one week in advance for approval.
Requirements
- Experience engaging students in person or using Zoom.
- Experience with high school youth working on the college application process.
- Experience with students who wish to pursue other post-secondary paths (job training/workforce).
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Master's Degree in Higher Education, Guidance Counseling, or Social Work preferred.
- Must have reliable Wi-Fi and computers if switching to online classes.
- Must have cameras on at all times and appear on camera if classes switch to online.
