About the Role
Liberty LEADS is seeking qualified art teachers to instruct middle and high school students in various art styles and media. The role involves fostering creative expression, building student confidence and skills through project-based activities, and demonstrating how different art forms and history influence perception. Instructors will develop and deliver curriculum, manage classrooms, and prepare students for an end-of-year showcase.
Responsibilities
- Create, adapt, and implement art curriculum for groups of 10-12 students.
- Engage students and modify curriculum based on student needs and the medium used, with advisor support.
- Manage in-person and remote classrooms using positive behavior management strategies.
- Meet regularly with the Middle School Coordinator for supervision and debriefing.
- Prepare a presentation with students for the 'end of year' celebration.
- Provide lesson plans to advisors one week in advance for approval.
- Ensure reliable Wi-Fi and computer access for remote classes.
- Maintain camera presence during remote classes to encourage student participation.
Requirements
- NYS Teacher Certification or professional proficiency in content area preferred.
- Special Education teachers are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Must possess strong communication skills.
- Must have knowledge of group development.
- Experience working with middle school youth.
- Knowledge of child development.
- Experience teaching classes using Zoom platform preferred.
- Reliable Wi-Fi and computer access.
