About the Role
The Industrial Automation Specialist will administer and maintain AVEVA SCADA and MES platforms, own all integration layers, and serve as the primary escalation point for automation-related production issues. This position requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain AVEVA System Platform, including HMI applications, Galaxy/Application Server objects, I/O connectivity, alarming, historian tags, runtime health, licensing, backups, and recovery.
- Administer and maintain AVEVA MES, including work order management, routing, material traceability, scheduling, Work task workflows, quality module, reporting, and related master data.
- Troubleshoot MES exceptions and maintain the underlying SQL Server environment, including database health, performance, backups, recovery, stored procedures and schema changes.
- Own the health, monitoring, support, and documentation of integration layers across SCADA, MES, Historian, SAP, CMMS, quality systems, and printing systems.
- Implement integration changes, troubleshoot cross-system failures, manage error queues, and coordinate resolution with SAP, IT, vendors, and other support teams.
- Own technical execution of automation projects as scoped by the Production Business Analyst, including configuration, testing, commissioning, go-live support, and vendor coordination.
- Support feasibility review, FAT/SAT activities, punch list closure, and joint troubleshooting.
- Support and travel between multiple Club Coffee sites.
- Support equity, diversity, and inclusivity programs.
- Understand, apply and actively participate in maintaining product quality and food safety program practices including BRC, HACCP, QA / QC, GMP, Sanitation and good hygiene practices.
- Understand, apply and actively participate in maintaining the Health and Safety program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Automation, Controls, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 4 – 6 years of experience in industrial automation, MES/SCADA administration, or manufacturing systems integration.
- Hands-on experience with AVEVA System Platform or AVEVA MES – experience with both is strongly preferred; demonstrated proficiency in at least one is required.
- Experience with at least one comparable platform, such as Ignition, FactoryTalk, Opcenter, or similar, will be considered where AVEVA – specific experience is partial.
- Experience with systems integration in a manufacturing context – PLC to SCADA, SCADA to MES, or MES to ERP.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server – query writing, stored procedures, and database administration fundamentals; advanced DBA-level experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with SAP integration concepts, or experience working alongside a SAP team on manufacturing data interface.
