About the Role
Support high-impact work involving HVAC, energy systems, decarbonization, and building performance while collaborating with experienced engineers and project stakeholders. Contribute to projects that improve building efficiency, resiliency, and long-term performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop hydronic, district energy, geothermal, and other building mechanical system designs for new construction, renovations, and infrastructure projects.
- Perform HVAC system and mechanical design calculations, field investigations, and existing-conditions documentation.
- Evaluate design options and cost-benefit considerations for energy efficiency and system performance.
- Prepare and review construction documentation, including drawings, specifications, and technical deliverables.
- Coordinate mechanical designs with project teams, ensuring alignment with building codes, standards, and utility requirements.
Requirements
- 8–10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience in building engineering, energy infrastructure, or a related discipline.
- Active New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience supporting decarbonization and electrification projects and energy-focused building initiatives.
- Knowledge of building energy analysis and energy performance evaluation.
- Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD for mechanical design and documentation.
- Strong understanding of applicable mechanical codes, industry standards, and utility requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple technical assignments, communicate engineering recommendations, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification must be completed at the start of employment.
