About the Role
The Overnight Counselor is responsible for overseeing the health and welfare of all residents, providing support and clinical services to clients with co-occurring and mental health problems. This role is a key part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Responsibilities
- File all paperwork on a nightly basis.
- Perform closing runs and document findings via the appropriate reporting systems.
- Screen residents and their belongings returning from passes, medical, and court appointments.
- Conduct health and welfare checks and runs in accordance with unit policy and procedures.
- Supervise clients in self-medication.
- Participate in individual and group supervision.
- Communicate all pertinent information for incidents, emergencies, and reporting systems.
- Perform crisis interventions and follow up with incident, accident, and/or elopement reports.
- Create new resident clinical charts and maintain inactive charts.
- Obtain urine samples for toxicology testing as directed by supervisor.
- Oversee and manage the client population in the facilitation of the daily house schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- CASAC-T, CASAC, or higher preferred.
- 1 year of experience working with clients with substance abuse disorders.
- 1 year of experience working with adolescents with co-occurring and mental health problems.
- 1 year of experience working in an OASAS funded facility a plus.
- Commitment to providing quality services and outcome-driven performance measures.
- Excellent organizational management skills with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance clinicians, set and achieve program objectives.
- Strong networking and public relations skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders, populations, and cultures.
- Action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative approach to program planning.
- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
Experience Level
- 1 year of experience working with clients with substance abuse disorders
- 1 year of experience working with adolescents with co-occurring and mental health problems
- 1 year of experience working in an OASAS funded facility
