About the Role
We are looking for individuals to join Cell Labs early, take ownership, and help build advanced humanoid systems that empower humans. Our technology is deployed with industry leaders, and our own product is nearing launch.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for humanoid systems using CAD software.
- Design and optimize the kinematic structure of robot joints and limbs, including selecting and integrating actuators.
- Optimize designs for series production, considering product requirements, user experience, and target cost.
- Prepare designs for manufacturing, including assembly processes, jigs, fixtures, and supplier ramp-up.
- Prototype and validate mechanical systems for performance, safety, and durability.
- Design and build test rigs for actuators and subassemblies.
- Integrate PCBs, sensors, and batteries into mechanical assemblies, managing cable routing and heat.
- Build and solder cables and wiring harnesses for prototypes and test setups.
- Run stress analysis and weight optimization to improve performance and longevity.
- Research, test, and qualify new materials and processes.
- Maintain complete design documentation, including drawings, part specifications, BOMs, and wiring diagrams.
Requirements
- Studied mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience working on robotic systems, mobile machinery, or similar electromechanical products.
- Experience designing complex mechanical systems, understanding robot kinematics, actuators, and electromechanical integration.
- Knowledge of CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing.
- Experience designing for mid- and high-volume production.
- Experience working with suppliers and bringing hardware into production.
- Hands-on experience with soldering, building wiring harnesses, and constructing test rigs.
- Proficiency in Onshape and Autodesk Fusion, including its electronics design tools.
- Experience taking at least one hardware product from concept to series production is ideal.
- Ability to build prototypes quickly and iterate on designs.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Fluent English language skills.
