About the Role
Delivers pharmaceutical care through patient-centered clinical services, medication information, education, and preparation/distribution. Ensures safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy. Exercises sound judgment and clinical skills to implement patient care plans. Gains confidence and cooperation through competent assessment, monitoring, and communication. Adheres to all regulations, codes, policies, and procedures for privacy and safety.
Responsibilities
- Delivers pharmaceutical care through patient-centered clinical services.
- Provides medication information, education, preparation, and distribution.
- Ensures safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy.
- Implements patient care plans based on diagnosis.
- Performs patient assessment, monitoring, and communication.
- Adheres to local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures.
- May be responsible for performing specific tasks and orienting other staff.
Requirements
- Current registration or Registered Pharmacist within 120 days.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) if required.
- Pediatric Life Support (PALS) if required.
- 1 year of recent relevant experience.
Skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology, generic and trade pharmaceutical names, pharmaceutical calculations, and laws/regulations.
- Understanding of different Pharmacy practice settings, including narcotic delivery and procedures.
- Ability to identify and employ pharmaceutical and medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols.
- Basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards (NABP, TJC, Title XXII, DHS, DEA, FDA, USP).
- Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally.
- Well-developed time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods.
- General knowledge of computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, EHR, EPIC).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems.
- Ensure the privacy of each patient’s PHI.
