About the Role
This role involves ensuring the safety, security, and smooth operation of athletic facilities, providing excellent customer service, and performing general maintenance and support tasks.
Responsibilities
- Monitor facility access and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Conduct regular walk-throughs to identify and report safety, security, and maintenance issues.
- Respond to emergency situations, including first aid and evacuations.
- Perform lock-up procedures and ensure facilities are cleared.
- Provide information on facilities, schedules, memberships, and services.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and requests for assistance.
- Manage equipment and towel services.
- Book squash and tennis courts.
- Prepare and maintain laundry services.
- Operate and perform minor maintenance on commercial laundry machines.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Handle hazardous chemicals safely.
- Set up and dismantle equipment for programs and events.
- Store equipment and materials in an organized manner.
- Perform repairs, cleaning, and preventative maintenance on fitness equipment.
- Maintain various operational logs.
- Clean and maintain locker rooms.
- Perform seasonal locker clean-outs.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitization of work areas.
- Receive and log incoming deliveries.
- Liaise with contractors, rental groups, and emergency services.
- Assist with staff orientations and training.
- Provide guidance to apprentices and interns.
- Assist with mailings and promotions.
- Provide input on operational procedures and projects.
Requirements
- Completion of Grade 12 or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must successfully complete a current recognized Standard First Aid, AED, and CPR certificate within the probationary period.
- A minimum of one year of related experience in a customer service-oriented position.
- Familiarity with athletic facilities, equipment, and/or programs.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to perform essential physical functional requirements of the position.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Considerable public relations skills, diplomacy, and tact.
- Conflict management skills.
- Ability to deal calmly with angry or upset individuals.
- Basic reading and writing skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and initiative.
