About the Role

The Colleague Experience Group (CEG) is responsible for all colleague-related benefits and programs globally. The Human Resources Leadership Development Program (HRLDP) Internship offers high-performing master’s and MBA students the opportunity to contribute to strategic, high-impact initiatives aligned with the CEG strategy, gaining exposure to senior leadership and diverse functional areas.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to strategic, high-impact initiatives aligned with the CEG strategy.
  • Gain meaningful exposure to senior leadership and the diverse functional areas of CEG.
  • Present insights and recommendations to the Chief Colleague Experience Officer, the CEG Senior Leadership Team, and CEG colleagues.
  • Participate in three diverse, high-impact, and personalized Colleague Experience Group (CEG) rotations designed to stretch participants and prepare them for larger and more complex roles.
  • Receive senior leader mentorship and coaching.
  • Transition into roles within the function based on business needs and participant interests after program completion.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Synthesize large amounts of information into clear, actionable recommendations and compelling executive-level communications.
  • Be willing to speak up, challenge the status quo, and contribute new ideas.
  • Demonstrate commitment to and passion for building a career in HR.
  • Show interest in growing a long-term career in CEG at American Express.
  • Be able to be based in New York and work in a hybrid model.
  • Current enrollment in a full-time master’s or MBA program in Human Resources, or an HR-related degree program, concentration, or relevant coursework.
  • Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028 for master’s or MBA degree candidates.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
  • 3+ years of professional work experience with demonstrated progression, leadership, or ownership of meaningful projects or initiatives.
  • Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information and develop strategic, data-driven recommendations for senior leaders.
  • A feedback-oriented mindset and self-awareness to support ongoing personal growth.
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
