About the Role

The Service Bartender plays a key role in supporting restaurant and bar operations by efficiently preparing high-quality beverages for servers and guests. This role can involve back-of-house drink preparation or guest-facing direct beverage service, focusing on providing an excellent hospitality experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver, maintain, and exceed guest service quality standards.
  • Prepare and present beverages according to standards, maintaining quality and hygiene.
  • Ensure drinks are made to set recipes and track wastages and spills accurately.
  • Adhere to Smart Serve and Alcohol and Gaming Commission (AGCO) regulations.
  • Adhere to company grooming and uniform standards.
  • Master drink menu knowledge to provide expert recommendations.
  • Oversee and train F&B General Helper in compliance with service excellence standards.
  • Cover breaks for bartenders as assigned.
  • Uphold safety rules and standards.
  • Attend staff meetings and training.
  • Organize, operate, and control the bar to consistently deliver timely service and quality product.
  • Manage bar setup, including cleaning, stocking, and setting up/closing down the bar.
  • Maintain a clean and neat bar area.
  • Clean and maintain all equipment.
  • Use all equipment for its intended purpose in a safe manner.
  • Record sales and process payments.
  • Assume responsibility for all cash shortages as per policy and the collective agreement.
  • Order and control bar stock as per set par levels.
  • Conduct inventory and complete assigned checklists.
  • Receive and record food and beverage merchandise.
  • Process all products for delivery through the POS system.
  • Dismantle, clean, close, and lock the bar and secure product at the end of the shift.
  • Complete all required paperwork and reporting.
  • Report all voids and spillages to the Supervisor.
  • Foster teamwork by working harmoniously with co-workers and assisting with duties.
  • Advise Supervisor of any occurrences that may compromise positive customer relations.
  • Advise Supervisor of any occurrences that may impede operational efficiency.
  • Report any special occurrences or discrepancies to Manager and/or Supervisor.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for improving service or operational performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in full-service bars and restaurants.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a bartending role.
  • Previous work experience handling cash and POS system required.
  • Basic math, wine, and liquor knowledge.
  • Responsible for obtaining and maintaining Food Handlers & Smart Serve Certification.
  • Responsible for obtaining and maintaining A.G.C.O. gaming license, as required.
