About the Role

The Pharmacy Technician 2 will assist pharmacists in the formulation, preparation, dispensing, delivery, and storage of medications and pharmaceutical supplies. This role ensures products and services are provided in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner according to department policies, procedures, and practice standards, supporting both inpatient and outpatient services.

Responsibilities

  • Handles, pulls, labels, packages, compounds, and delivers medications as instructed by a pharmacist.
  • Assists in maintaining medication and supply inventory.
  • Identifies, pulls, and disposes of expired medications.
  • Performs clerical duties including filing, data entry, and printer management.
  • Maintains compliance with state, federal, and regulatory requirements, including completing and reviewing audits such as managing temp logs, cleans logs, and unit inspections.
  • Manages automated dispensing cabinets (ADC) inventory and troubleshoots minor technical issues.
  • Refills and manages expiration dates of code carts, kits, and medication trays.
  • Handles and delivers controlled medications in compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Triages phone calls and transfers medication-related questions to a pharmacist.
  • Navigates the electronic medical record (EMR) for missing medications and billing inquiries.
  • Understands the identification, handling, and storage of hazardous medications.
  • Complies with USP 795 and USP 797 requirements for compounding sterile and non-sterile products.
  • Maintains and models Nuvance Health Values.
  • Demonstrates regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • No minimum experience required.
  • Active PTCB Certification.
  • Active and in good standing Registered Pharmacy Technician license.
  • CT Department of Consumer Protection license for those working in CT.
  • NY Board of Pharmacy license for those working in NY.
  • Pharmacy Technician experience is desired.
  • Computer skills are desired.
  • Ability to multi-task is desired.
  • Ability to work independently is desired.
