About the Role

Responsible for carrying out all functions related to Account Receivable review and Credit Resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Credit Work Queues to analyze and validate credit transactions across all departments for proper resolution.
  • Work dedicated project-based spreadsheets.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of strategies and procedures to reduce credit balances and maximize credit resolution efficiency.
  • Respond to payer requests for additional information and validation of coverages.
  • Respond to other credit balance related inquiries.
  • Process correspondence items related to denials, recoupment, and refund request documents across all patient accounts.
  • Submit letters for payer recoupment extensions.
  • Review accounts receivable for credit and adjustment posting discrepancies and determine appropriate resolution actions.
  • Research credit balance inquiries and assist in gathering required documentation for resolution from EPIC, Banking, and Insurance portals.
  • Review registration, demographic, and insurance eligibility issues to determine payment and credit allocation.
  • Notate and report inconsistent and invalid financial transactions.
  • Monitor credit patterns and alert manager to deviations.
  • Process all incoming returned refund checks across all departments and assess proper resolution.
  • Contact payers regarding discrepancies and appeals of requested refunds.
  • Assist in training current and new employees on system usage and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the audit of new employees and provide feedback.
  • Maintain established institutional and department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality & safety standards.
  • Respect and adhere to rules and regulations regarding patient confidentiality, HIPAA, and handling PHI.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.
  • Position requires mandatory overtime to meet departmental requirements at month end.

Requirements

  • Approximately 3 – 5 years of medical billing experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of third party reimbursement.
  • Previous related experience in an office setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with multiple constituencies and exercise "people skills".
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications.

  • Demonstrated ability to remain focus despite frequent interruptions.

  • Ability to exercise standards of professionalism, including appearance, presentation, and demeanor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative manner with all departmental faculty and staff, as well as other institutional representatives.
