About the Role
The Temporary Coordinated Entry DV Specialist provides a range of direct services to survivors of domestic violence at the Community Office, a drop-in center. This role supports individuals and households fleeing dangerous situations by offering resources, assessments, and referrals to safe housing. The position is crucial in helping survivors avoid shelter entry or street homelessness and navigate complex issues with a trauma-informed approach.
Responsibilities
- Provide resources and services to survivors of domestic violence, including those fleeing dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, or other dangerous conditions.
- Screen and assess domestic violence survivors using standardized tools, including prioritization and referral protocols integrated into the HOPE system.
- Provide Coordinated Entry Housing Assessments for survivors of domestic violence.
- Use the ONE System to gather client Unique Identification (UID) numbers.
- Triage clients appropriately upon arrival at the community office.
- Utilize a collaborative, client-centric, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to support survivors.
- Assist clients in safely remaining in their current living situation or identifying alternate safe housing.
- Engage survivors in problem-solving conversations to address housing crises and refer them to appropriate resources.
- Provide services addressing complex issues using compassionate, trauma-informed, and harm reduction techniques.
- Offer crisis intervention assistance as needed.
- Attend housing conferences and advocate for client needs.
- Maintain accurate records and charts, entering data into Salesforce and the HOPE System within 24 hours, ensuring confidentiality.
- Follow SVDP and HSH policies.
- Assist with monthly reports on service numbers, clients served, and achievements.
- Provide professional, accessible, and culturally relevant support, advocacy, and information.
- Serve as a liaison to community-based and governmental service partners.
- Participate in staff training, meetings, and development activities.
- Collaborate with the Community Office Program Manager to implement program refinements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience closely related to the job description.
- 40-Hours of Domestic Violence Training from California Partnership to End Domestic Violence (CPEDV).
- Substantial or demonstrated knowledge/experience working with individuals in crisis or unstable housing situations.
- Strong knowledge of and sensitivity to issues faced by adults with substance abuse, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, mental health issues, history of trauma, and co-occurring diagnoses.
- Demonstrated respect for, experience with, and willingness to work with a diverse client population.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of resources available to homeless and low-income residents of San Francisco.
- Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in cross-cultural situations.
- Professional and discreet demeanor with good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with tact, respect, discretion, and judgment.
- Ability to organize material, information, and/or people systematically for efficiency and to minimize harm or duplication of efforts.
- Collaborative work style with the ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent computer skills and average ability in Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and work collaboratively with clients, volunteers, and staff.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changes.
- Commitment to the mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco.
- Covid vaccination required.
- Negative result on TB test required.
- Background check completed upon acceptance of job offer.

Benefits
- Paid sick time accrued according to the San Francisco Paid Sick Leave Ordinance (PSLO)
- Earn 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked
