About the Role

The Schroeder Arthritis Institute is Canada's largest multidisciplinary arthritis hub, integrating medical, surgical, and basic science aspects of Hand, Orthopedics, Osteoporosis, and Rheumatology with a goal of making a global impact in discovery, learning, and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes knowledge of medical terminology and exercises judgment or decision-making to provide secretarial and clerical services, in support of professional/medical personnel
  • Provides word processing/typing services for assigned personnel
  • Performs reception responsibilities
  • Maintains written and/or electronic calendar/schedules
  • Administers and monitors billing procedures and budgeting records
  • Provides support with small and/or informal meetings/events
  • Maintains and modifies confidential medical electronic/paper filing/retrieval methods, systems, and/or formats
  • Provides functional supervision to lower classified clerical position(s)
  • Ensures the efficient operation of the office

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade XII or recognized equivalent
  • Completion of recognized medical office administration program at the diploma level or equivalent
  • Completion of a medical terminology course
  • One (1) year related medical administrative support experience
  • Previous on-the-job computer/word-processing, database and spreadsheet software experience, in a Microsoft Office Environment preferred
  • OHIP billing experience
  • Current UHN employees must have successfully completed their probationary period, have a good employee record along with satisfactory attendance in accordance with UHN's attendance management program, to be eligible for consideration.

Salary/Compensations

  • CAD 23.14 - CAD 28.92 - hourly
