About the Role

The Assistant General Manager assists the General Manager in leading daily front-of-house operations and employees, ensuring gracious hospitality and managing all front-of-house activities. This role involves interacting with guests, employees, and supervisors in a polite and courteous manner.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional appearance standards.
  • Anticipate and accommodate guest needs.
  • Ensure the general cleanliness of the front-of-house and venue.
  • Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training new applicants.
  • Manage scheduling, growth opportunities, and employee development for front-of-house staff.
  • Collaborate with the GM on job performance reviews.
  • Oversee front-of-house operations for quality, safety, beverage accuracy, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Regulate executive-level POS functions.
  • Participate in reviewing the venue’s monthly Profit & Loss statement.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Health and company sanitation standards.
  • Ensure venue compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Coach and develop front-of-house employees by setting clear guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensure all mechanical systems are in good working order and compliant with ordinances.
  • Ensure all employees comply with front-of-house standards and procedures.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of all food and beverage menus and the venue.
  • Resolve guest and employee concerns.
  • Reconcile all end-of-shift financials.
  • Possess practical knowledge in the job duties of all supervised employees.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with heart-of-house employees during service.
  • Ensure completion of all opening and closing procedures.
  • Attend and lead daily pre-service meetings.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Tao Group Hospitality, its partners, and supporting hotel environments.
  • Oversee the replacement or repair of damaged equipment or furniture.
  • Attend and participate in training sessions, departmental meetings, and daily pre-service meetings.
  • Learn by listening, observing, sharing knowledge, and leading by example.
  • Portray a positive and professional attitude.
  • Work as part of a team, providing help and support to team members.
  • Assist with or complete additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of previous hospitality experience as an Assistant General Manager, Restaurant Manager, or senior manager in a high-volume setting.
  • Strong guest service foundation.
  • Ability to coach and build a team.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with P&L statements and labor models is desirable.
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, and proactive with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient with computers (Microsoft Products), POS, and technology.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
