About the Role

Michael Baker International is seeking an ambitious and driven Civil Associate, Highway/Roadway to join our New York City team for Spring/Summer 2027. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside industry leaders on transformative infrastructure projects that improve mobility, safety, and quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to roadway and highway design, plan production, construction documents, maps, reports, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings for transportation, traffic, and infrastructure projects.
  • Perform field investigations, utility research, and reviews of as-built plans and existing conditions.
  • Develop quantity calculations and project cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with designers and technical staff to deliver high-quality work products on schedule.
  • Support permit applications and regulatory submissions.
  • Assist with client meetings, project workshops, and stakeholder coordination efforts.
  • Participate in project team meetings and interdisciplinary design reviews.
  • Conduct occasional site visits and communicate findings to project leadership.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, planners, environmental specialists, and other disciplines.
  • Expand technical expertise through ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 0-2 years of transportation engineering experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to delivering quality work.
