About the Role
The Ithaca College Wellness Clinic is seeking Fitness Floor Monitors for the spring semester and summer. This role provides quality health and fitness services to the Ithaca College community while enhancing student practical experiences through guided clinical training.
Responsibilities
- Maintain professionalism, build client rapport, and educate clients in health, fitness, and wellness.
- Enforce and follow policies and procedures of the Wellness Clinic.
- Ensure client safety through spotting, appropriate exercise technique, cuing, and emergency care.
- Provide fitness floor supervision and guided fitness training during client workouts.
- Teach group exercise if qualified and interested.
- Perform facility and equipment maintenance and launder towels.
- Maintain client, facility, and equipment records.
Requirements
- Matriculated student at Ithaca College.
- Availability to work during weekday operational hours (6 am – 7 pm), preferably for multiple semesters, and/or summer sessions.
- Successful completion of EXSS 12500 Foundations of Exercise Science, EXSS 26200 Personal Training course, Personal Training certification, undergraduate degree in Exercise Science or related field, or related coursework/experience.
- Ability to interact professionally and courteously with people of diverse ages, cultures, and communication styles.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, busy environment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and work ethic.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Commitment to client confidentiality.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred, especially Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
- Required Certifications/Trainings upon hiring: Adult CPR/AED, HIPAA, Blood Borne Pathogen, and Harassment Prevention Certification/Training.
