About the Role

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a Temporary full-time Buyer/Planner to join their dynamic Procurement team. This team provides strategic procurement support through RFP development, contract negotiations, and supplier qualifications for critical supplies and services. The role involves analyzing and managing inventory levels for medical supplies, providing procurement services for general supplies using SAP, and recommending inventory level adjustments.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, monitor, and manage inventory levels for medical supplies.
  • Provide procurement services for the acquisition of general supplies.
  • Utilize Material Requirement Planning in SAP for medical supplies.
  • Make recommendations for changes to inventory levels in coordination with business owners.
  • Liaise with medical supply business owners to establish quantities and shipping schedules.
  • Proactively monitor inventory levels and MRP output to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Interpret and analyze client requirements and specifications.
  • Assess and compare quotations to ensure optimal purchasing decisions.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to defective goods, poor service, or late deliveries.
  • Review discrepancies and determine solutions through discussions with suppliers and requisitioners.
  • Analyze trends and recommend process improvements.
  • Establish and implement improved procurement techniques and methods.
  • Collect and interpret data on procurement and supply activities.
  • Produce documentation in support of service activities.

Requirements

  • Completion of post-secondary education in a relevant discipline, preferably in Supply Chain Management or Materials Management.
  • Minimum three (3) to four (4) years of job-related experience in the procurement field.
  • Experience with SAP is required.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in PowerApps (automation and integration with all Microsoft tools, ie Power BI).
  • Experience with evaluating contractors and supplier performance.
  • Experience maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Completion of APICS syllabus and looking towards obtaining CPIM designation is an asset.
  • Performing sourcing and quotations is considered value experience and an asset.
  • GMP training and/or experience is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of supply management concepts.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Up-to-date resume required for application.
