About the Role
As a key member of the Research Financial Services Team, the Financial Analyst I performs a range of professional and detailed accounting tasks requiring basic knowledge and fundamental application of competent knowledge of accounting concepts, principles and practices. This individual works independently under broad direction and within established accounting systems.
Responsibilities
- Allocate deposits received through UHN bank accounts
- Process and manage cheque deposits within Research Financial Services (RFS)
- Handle a high volume of deposit allocations accurately and within established timelines
- Process repayment and refund transactions as required
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to obtain the necessary information for deposit allocation and refund processing
- Investigate and reconcile discrepancies between claims submitted and payments received
- Respond promptly to inquiries related to deposits, allocations, and refunds
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with applicable financial policies and procedures
- Provide support for ad hoc projects, analyses, and other tasks as assigned
Requirements
- University degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or equivalent program
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience in accounting environment with exposure to a range of basic accounting practices, procedures and generally accepted accounting principles
- Skill in performing detailed numerical computations and accurate data entry
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills required
- Working knowledge of computer application accounting systems (SAP preferred) and software applications, preferably in a Microsoft Office environment (i.e. Word, Access, PowerPoint)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to client service and satisfaction
- Experience working in a health care environment, preferred
- Self-motivated, proactive, detail oriented and solution-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
