About the Role
The Driver plays an important role in supporting the daily lives of our residents by providing safe, reliable, timely, and courteous transportation to appointments, outings, activities, and other destinations. This role involves coordinating and managing the transportation schedule while ensuring residents, families, and team members receive exceptional service and support. Transportation is about more than getting from one destination to another; the Driver is a trusted member of the resident experience, helping residents maintain independence, stay connected to the community, and arrive safely with care and attention.
Responsibilities
- Safely and lawfully operate company vehicles for resident, family, and team member transportation.
- Coordinate and manage the resident transportation schedule.
- Ensure timely fulfillment of transportation needs in coordination with other community teams.
- Provide patient, compassionate, and respectful assistance to residents during transportation.
- Assist residents with mobility, entering/exiting vehicles, and transfers as needed.
- Maintain company vehicles in a clean, professional, and welcoming condition.
- Complete required safety checks before operating company vehicles.
- Develop familiarity with local roads, destinations, and traffic patterns for efficient transportation.
- Serve as a community ambassador during driving and interactions.
- Demonstrate courteous, patient, defensive, and non-aggressive driving practices.
- Maintain a driving record that meets company requirements.
- Participate in required training, meetings, and professional development.
- Support other transportation and community-related responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with individuals of varying ages and abilities.
- Must be able to read and write English and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must maintain a clean and professional appearance and follow dress/uniform standards.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and occasional adjustments.
- Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must meet applicable health-screening requirements.
- Must successfully complete required background screening.
- Must possess and maintain a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the vehicles operated.
- Must meet The Kensington's driving-record requirements.
