About the Role
Next 150 Construction, a subsidiary of Gilbane Building Company, is seeking a Union Payroll Specialist to administer union and prevailing wage payroll programs. This role ensures compliance with collective bargaining agreements, Davis-Bacon and prevailing wage requirements, certified payroll reporting, union dues processing, and fringe benefit remittances. The specialist will collaborate with various departments and union administrators to maintain accurate records and support audits.
Responsibilities
- Support union and prevailing wage payroll operations by assisting with union data requests, maintaining accurate records, supporting CBA compliance reviews, and helping with union reconciliation, reporting, and benefit remittance activities.
- Support routine communication with union benefit administrators and trust funds regarding reporting, documentation, and remittance questions.
- Gather and provide union-related payroll data when requested.
- Assist with reviewing payroll, benefit, and classification data to support CBA compliance and identify routine concerns, escalating potential compliance issues.
- Assist with processing and documenting union dues, assessments, fees, and employer contributions.
- Assist with review of hours, wages, dues, and fringe benefit data.
- Prepare or assist with weekly, monthly, and quarterly union fringe benefit reports, trust fund submissions, and dues summaries.
- Maintain organized documentation of union agreements, certified payroll reports, and remittance receipts.
- Research basic discrepancies and escalate complex issues.
- Support audit activities by gathering documentation, reviewing payroll data, and assisting with validation of CBA compliance, benefit accuracy, and proper classification use.
- Escalate complex union questions, payroll discrepancies, or potential disputes.
- Assist with collecting required internal data, forms, and documentation from Leadership, Clients, Legal, Human Resources, Operations, and Finance.
- Partner with the supervisor and team members to support requirements for new initiatives or projects affecting union or prevailing wage payroll operations.
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information.
- Contribute to the payroll team by completing related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong understanding of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), prevailing wage rules, and certified payroll (Davis-Bacon Act)
- Ability to analyze information
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
