About the Role
Our Housekeepers are essential members of our community. Beyond maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, they contribute to the overall resident experience through professionalism, attention to detail, and meaningful daily interactions. The ideal candidate brings prior housekeeping experience, a strong work ethic, and a genuine commitment to creating a warm and respectful atmosphere for those we serve.
Responsibilities
- Help create a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our residents, staff, and visitors
- Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, offices, and common areas on a regular schedule
- Maintain floors by sweeping, damp mopping, buffing, stripping, and refinishing as needed
- Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue to keep areas fully supplied
- Dust furniture, surfaces, and equipment daily to maintain a fresh and tidy appearance
- Clean sinks, mirrors, toilets, tile walls, windowsills, and other fixtures with care and attention to detail
- Empty trash, remove debris, and transport soiled linen using proper procedures
- Arrange furniture and equipment neatly to help maintain organized and inviting spaces
- Assist with special cleaning projects and room set-ups as directed by supervisors
- Use cleaning products and housekeeping equipment safely and responsibly, including proper use of caution signage
- Demonstrate initiative and pride in maintaining assigned areas in excellent condition
- Show kindness, professionalism, and consideration toward residents, families, and fellow team members
- Promptly report unsafe conditions or damaged equipment to ensure a safe environment for everyone
- Maintain accurate housekeeping records and logs as required
- Follow facility policies related to attendance, dress code, and workplace safety
- Support the safety, security, comfort, and wellbeing of our residents every day
Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members visitors, government agencies/staff, and the general public
- Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret department programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care
- Must have patience, tact a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle challenging residents/associates
- Must be able to communicate with the staff, and other department supervisors
- Maintains a rapport with the residents and their families
- Must be willing to seek out new methods and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
- Must attend and participate in continuing educational programs
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty (30) pounds
