About the Role

Our Housekeepers are essential members of our community, contributing to the overall resident experience through professionalism, attention to detail, and meaningful daily interactions. The ideal candidate brings prior housekeeping experience, a strong work ethic, and a genuine commitment to creating a warm and respectful atmosphere for those we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Help create a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, offices, and common areas on a regular schedule.
  • Maintain floors by sweeping, damp mopping, buffing, stripping, and refinishing as needed.
  • Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue.
  • Dust furniture, surfaces, and equipment daily.
  • Clean sinks, mirrors, toilets, tile walls, windowsills, and other fixtures.
  • Empty trash, remove debris, and transport soiled linen using proper procedures.
  • Arrange furniture and equipment neatly.
  • Assist with special cleaning projects and room set-ups as directed by supervisors.
  • Use cleaning products and housekeeping equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Demonstrate initiative and pride in maintaining assigned areas in excellent condition.
  • Show kindness, professionalism, and consideration toward residents, families, and fellow team members.
  • Promptly report unsafe conditions or damaged equipment.
  • Maintain accurate housekeeping records and logs.
  • Follow facility policies related to attendance, dress code, and workplace safety.
  • Support the safety, security, comfort, and wellbeing of residents.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/staff, and the general public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret department programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
  • Must be willing to handle challenging residents/associates.
  • Must be able to communicate with staff and other department supervisors.
  • Maintains a rapport with residents and their families.
  • Must be willing to seek out new methods and incorporate them into existing practices.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Must attend and participate in continuing educational programs.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility.
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty (30) pounds.
  • Must be able to climb stairs.
