About the Role

The Lab Coordinator is responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of a research lab, involving data acquisition on cognition and brain response. This role ensures efficient scheduling, participant management, and general lab maintenance, while also providing administrative support to the Principal Investigator, assisting with ethics protocols and grants, and supporting graduate students with participant testing and data collation. This is a two-year term opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire data on cognition and brain response.
  • Ensure participants and/or testing rooms are not double-booked.
  • Ensure forms are available to sign and payments/participation credits are processed.
  • Recruit participants.
  • Prepare test materials.
  • Schedule and keep track of participants’ appointments and their compensation.
  • Interact with research assistants about their duties.
  • Perform general maintenance of the research lab.
  • Ensure supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Compile receipts and forms.
  • Ensure reference libraries are maintained.
  • Update and maintain lab manuals.
  • Update lab files and website.
  • Back up information weekly.
  • Contact departmental computer staff to ensure programs and computers run properly.
  • Maintain a tidy environment.
  • Provide administrative support to the Principal Investigator.
  • Assist with ethics protocols and grants.
  • Assist graduate students with participant testing and data collating.
  • Proof and post adverts to recruit applicants.
  • Prepare consent forms using templates.
  • Disseminate and collect research surveys and questionnaires.
  • Generate reports.
  • Coordinate meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items.
  • Respond to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirect as appropriate.
  • Record or verify transactions on a single account.
  • Provide orientation to others on work procedures and practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in a research lab or as a lab coordinator with knowledge of research methodology.
  • Experience working with participants and collecting data/samples.
  • Experience in trouble-shooting various technologies along with website maintenance.
  • Experience interacting with participants and students of diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong computer skills including with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound time-management, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to meet multiple competing deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to use sound judgment, and proven ability to work within a team.

Salary/Compensations

  • $62,646 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $80,116
