About the Role
Collaborate with business stakeholders, designers, developers, and technical teams to understand business goals and deliver user-centered digital solutions supporting New York State strategic initiatives. Design, develop, and implement client-facing and internal applications; conduct user research and usability testing; create UX deliverables; and work closely with developers to translate designs into functional digital experiences across web, iOS, and Android platforms.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders and team members to understand business goals and solve complex business problems.
- Design, develop, and implement client-facing and internal applications.
- Create solutions that align enterprise architecture and business capabilities with New York State requirements.
- Address application defects and enhancements and participate in post-implementation incident resolution.
- Plan and conduct user research, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
- Present research findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Plan and facilitate design-thinking workshops, journey mapping, and user-needs modeling.
- Develop UX deliverables, including user models, scenarios, sketches, user stories, user flows, interactive prototypes, wireframes, storyboards, and sitemaps.
- Conduct usability testing, analyze user feedback, and continuously improve user experiences.
- Collaborate with developers to implement designs, develop content, and build coded prototypes.
- Collect quantitative and qualitative UX metrics to validate usability.
- Design experiences for web, iOS, and Android devices.
Requirements
- More than 7 years of experience working on complex projects, including at least 2 years in a leadership role as a UX Engineer.
- At least 7 years of experience delivering UX artifacts throughout the design lifecycle, including wireframes, mockups, journey maps, prototypes, storyboards, and user surveys.
- 1–2 years of experience working on an Integrated Eligibility System program, including various workstreams such as Fair Hearings, in a Health and Human Services setting.
- 7+ years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Figma.
- 2–5 years of experience in user research, user modeling, and usability testing.
- 2–5 years of experience with CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript.
