About the Role
Join a busy department at Scarborough Health Network (SHN) dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness across all hospital areas. This role is crucial for ensuring a sanitary and aseptic environment for patients and staff.
Responsibilities
- Regularly clean, sanitize, and aseptically maintain assigned areas.
- Perform tasks such as scouring, scrubbing, mopping, polishing, using germicides, wet dusting, and vacuuming.
- Wash walls, ceilings, lights, vents, doors, windows, and frames.
- Operate heavy scrubbing machines and carpet extractors for major cleaning.
- Set up and remove furniture for special events and office moves.
- Assist in maintaining the overall cleanliness, sanitation, and aseptic condition of the department.
- Utilize provided protective equipment.
- Identify and report hazards.
- Engage in ethical conduct.
- Strive to understand and appreciate the diversity of patients, staff, and the community.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and follow directions in English.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Physical capabilities to perform duties as outlined by the physical demands.
- Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct.
