About the Role
Serves as the first point of contact for patients entering the medical facility, greeting and checking them in, verifying information, scheduling appointments, and updating the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Facilitates intake procedures, including form completion and payment collection, while ensuring patient privacy and safety.
Responsibilities
- Greets and checks-in patients.
- Verifies patient information.
- Schedules appointments.
- Updates Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Facilitates intake procedures such as completion of healthcare and insurance forms.
- Collects payments for services.
- Ensures privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.
- May be responsible for performing specific tasks or orienting other staff.
Requirements
- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
- HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
- 1 year of recent relevant experience.
- Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions.
- Possess written and verbal communications skills.
- Well-developed time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies and procedures.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
- Ability to identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems.
- Ensure the privacy of each patient’s Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Build collaborative relationships with peers and other staff members.
Skills
- Basic knowledge of insurance policies and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of patient billing.
- General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).
