About the Role

Medical language specialist who interprets and transcribes dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals to document patient care and facilitate healthcare services delivery. Serves staff physicians, nurses, HIM Dept., Administrative personnel, Quality Assurance, Risk Management, Utilization Review, outside physicians' offices, insurance companies, lawyers, and governmental agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets and transcribes dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of medical transcription work experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology, and the various medical specialties.
  • Knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices.
  • Ability to operate word processing equipment, dictation and transcription equipment.
