About the Role

The HR Payroll Associate will work closely with the Global HR Operations team to ensure PJT meets its compliance obligations and that pay is delivered accurately and on time. This role focuses on supporting and validating payroll output, including reconciliations, general ledger entries, tax coordination, audit response, and benefits deductions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with third-party payroll providers and internal payroll processor for accurate and timely semi-monthly and monthly payroll output.
  • Review data in ADP WFN.
  • Reconcile payroll output to supporting documentation to ensure accuracy of domestic payrolls and obtain proper internal authorization.
  • Coordinate with International Payroll team to ensure accuracy of shadow payroll.
  • Coordinate with Compensation and Equity teams for accurate payroll processing of RSUs, dividends, and year-end bonus.
  • Coordinate with Tax team for accurate compensation reporting on Form K-1s.
  • Review and reconcile payroll journal entries to ensure proper general ledger recording.
  • Support payroll amendments for repayments by preparing and recording related general ledger journal entries and tracking amounts owed to/from tax authorities.
  • Review ADP wire confirmations and invoices, reconciling them to processed payrolls and amendments.
  • Review notices from tax authorities, investigating and reconciling as needed.
  • Review and reconcile cash entries with the Finance team, identifying and resolving cash breaks.
  • Assist with year-end compliance and reporting.
  • Review payroll processes and procedures, making necessary changes while ensuring adequate controls, and recommending improvements.
  • Document procedures thoroughly to ensure accurate and consistent completion of steps.
  • Respond to audit and regulatory inquiries related to Payroll, including managing annual 401(k) and Workers’ Compensation audits, SOX testing, and external audit requests.
  • Stay abreast of changes in tax and compliance regulations applicable to employees/employers and assess impact on payroll processes.
  • Support the Benefits Manager by ensuring employee benefits deductions are set up, updated, and processed accurately in payroll.
  • Answer employee queries related to payroll and benefits deductions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting or payroll administration.
  • Working knowledge of payroll tax concepts and compliance requirements.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent organization skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and process a high volume of work while maintaining the highest standards.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve payroll issues.
  • Willingness to proactively identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and a desire to work in a team environment.
  • Appetite to learn and willingness to get involved in developing professional experience with all aspects of payroll and benefit processes and ad hoc projects.
  • Demonstration of a high level of integrity, discretion, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • ADP WFN knowledge required.
  • Broad Workday knowledge preferred.
