About the Role

The Public Health Program is seeking Instructional Support Specialists (ISS) to support upper-division courses in the public health core curriculum. Successful candidates will assist faculty in teaching undergraduate public health majors and possess the necessary knowledge and skills to support students and faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and grading of homework assignments, quizzes, exams, papers, and/or other assignments.
  • Lead activities, demonstrations, discussions, and/or pre-exam review sessions.
  • Hold regularly assigned walk-in office hours, tutoring students on the assigned subject matter.
  • Provide course-based administrative assistance to the Instructor of Record, including grade reporting, maintenance of the course web site, and proctoring scheduled and make-up exams.
  • Assist with supporting students with university-approved accommodations (military, athletes, Disability & Access).
  • Post-semester duties may include professional development, participation in trainings, and preparation for the next semester.

Requirements

  • Part-time positions require enrollment in good standing in an accredited graduate school of public health.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • A criminal history background check will be required for finalists.
  • If hired, you will be required to complete the federal Employment Eligibility Verification I-9 form.
  • You will be required to present acceptable and original documents to prove your identity and authorization to work in the United States no later than the third day of employment.

  • $31,166.66 + depending on qualifications with Bachelor's degree (prorated for 27.5 hours/week)
  • $34,283.33 + depending on qualifications with Master's degree (prorated for 27.5 hours/week)
  • $37,400.00 + depending on qualifications with Doctoral degree (prorated for 27.5 hours/week)

  • Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) eligibility for positions 20+ hours/week and 135+ days in length.
