About the Role

RSM US, LLP is seeking a Principal to join our Deal Services team within the M&A Integration and Separation Advisory practice. The ideal candidate will have held senior-level M&A leadership positions at a Big 4 Consulting firm or a similar national consulting firm, with a proven track record in integrations, separations, and/or restructuring. This role involves leading client engagements, developing business, and growing the Deal Services practice, with a path to further leadership opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the growth and maturation of the practice with a team of high-performing professionals.
  • Evolve methodologies, tools, approaches, and thought leadership for a full-service M&A offering.
  • Develop business through internal and external channels and sell diverse firm services.
  • Grow a network of business connections to support firm strategic objectives.
  • Lead director and manager level engagement leaders in integration and separation engagements.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to internal and external clients, providing direction for business objectives.
  • Lead client workshops for buyers to validate deal thesis and investment objectives.
  • Sell and structure engagements for pre-close planning, post-close planning, and day 1 support.
  • Provide management advice across functional areas based on engagement scope, industry, and transaction complexity.
  • Demonstrate leadership to enhance delivery with data, insights, and thought leadership.
  • Provide direction on TSA evaluation, identify requirements, evaluate pricing, and structure services.
  • Develop plans to close gaps with new services, systems, people, process, or contracts.
  • Identify stranded costs for the sell side and manage the exit process.
  • Support synergy assessment and management for full value capture.
  • Collaborate with complex delivery lead directors and teams to support sales cycles and manage engagements.
  • Work with ISA and Deal Services leadership to develop and deliver on firm and practice level strategy.

Requirements

  • 10-12+ years of M&A or experience focused on mergers, acquisitions, separations, or value creation within a professional services firm.
  • Technical advice across all functions of business and execution in complex transaction project engagements.
  • Working knowledge of middle market business (private equity, privately held or publicly traded).
  • Experience working with corporate development officers and private equity.
  • Experience across a range of industries is highly desired.
  • Conversant in a range of business operational models.
  • Preferred experience in TMT, Life Sciences and/or other demonstrated industry depth.
  • Strong understanding of complex program management and leadership.
  • Ability to travel 3-4 days per week for 40-45 weeks of the year.
  • Focus on building diverse high-performing teams.

  • Strong financial capability to manage engagement financial outcomes.
  • Strong communication, presentation, project management, and business skills.
