About the Role

Design and build backend services powering TeamViewer products and their associated web applications. This role involves owning features end-to-end, shaping technical direction, and mentoring other engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs using Java/Kotlin with Spring Boot or Node.js/TypeScript.
  • Build high-quality web applications with React and TypeScript, contributing to the design system and micro-frontend architecture.
  • Drive architecture and design decisions for scalable, resilient, and secure services, applying domain-driven and event-driven principles.
  • Design data models and select appropriate storage solutions across SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Design asynchronous integrations using messaging systems like Kafka, NATS, or RabbitMQ.
  • Own deployment and operation of services with Docker and Kubernetes, and improve CI/CD pipelines and observability.
  • Drive the testing strategy across the stack, including unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end tests.
  • Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development by setting best practices, sharing workflows, and maintaining high quality.
  • Mentor other engineers, lead code reviews, and promote engineering best practices across teams.

Requirements

  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of professional experience in software development across backend and frontend, with a track record of leading technical topics.
  • Strong backend experience with Java and/or Kotlin and Spring Boot, or with Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Strong experience with React and TypeScript, including modern state management.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, API design, and software architecture.
  • Solid experience with relational (e.g. PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases.
  • Hands-on experience with messaging systems such as Kafka, NATS, or RabbitMQ.
  • Solid experience with Docker and Kubernetes, CI/CD, and production observability.
  • Good knowledge of security best practices for backend and web applications.
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and a clear view on how to use them responsibly in a team.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and working in agile teams.
