About the Role
Prison officers protect the public and help make an impact on prisoners' lives. If you have the integrity, skills, and strength of character, this fast-paced role could be the start of a successful career. In this unique career, you’ll have the opportunity to carry out many different roles in any one day, working directly with prisoners in a unique environment, helping to protect the public and make a positive impact.
Responsibilities

- Build constructive, positive, and professional relationships with prisoners
- Support colleagues and act as one team to keep the prison safe
- Work various shifts and some weekends
- Carry out many different roles in any one day
- Act as a peacekeeper, counsellor, or teacher
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old
- Meet the Civil Service Nationality requirements
- Pass a medical and fitness assessment
- Meet the required eyesight standard in both eyes (with or without corrective lenses)
- Meet the required standard of hearing (without hearing aids)
- Tattoos must not be deemed as offensive, discriminatory, violent, or intimidating; facial tattoos are generally not acceptable unless for cultural, religious, or medical reasons
- Must have been a resident in the UK for the last 3 years to work in a high-security prison (category A)
- A driving licence and own transport is beneficial but not essential (unless specified)
- It is your responsibility to get to and from your place of work on time for the start of your shift
- Must be able to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English or Welsh

- £43,290 (for a 39 hour week inc 20% unsocial)
- 37 hours a week = £40,840 a year
- 39 hours a week = £43,290 a year
- 41 hours a week = £45,379 a year
