In this unique career, you’ll have the opportunity to carry out many different roles in any one day, working directly with prisoners to protect the public and make a positive impact.

Responsibilities

  • Work various shifts and some weekends
  • Carry out different roles in any one day, acting as a peacekeeper, counsellor, or teacher

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Meet Civil Service Nationality requirements
  • Pass a medical and fitness assessment
  • Meet the required eyesight standard in both eyes (with or without corrective lenses)
  • Have a suitable standard of hearing (without the use of hearing aids)
  • Tattoos must not be deemed as offensive, discriminatory, violent, or intimidating; facial tattoos are generally not acceptable unless for cultural, religious, or medical reasons
  • Undergo and clear Counter-Terrorism Check (CTC vetting)
  • Provide proof of UK residency for the last 3 years for CTC vetting
  • Be able to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English or Welsh
