About the Role
The Neighborhood Secretary performs clerical and receptionist activities within a neighborhood, providing excellent customer service to elders, families, visitors, and employees. This role is crucial in maintaining organized records and facilitating smooth operations within the neighborhood.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, organize, update, and thin elder records, sending discharge records to medical.
- Prepare and distribute data lists and documents for the neighborhood.
- Prepare requisitions for diagnostic tests and notify appropriate persons.
- Receive visitors and personnel in a customer-oriented manner.
- Schedule elder appointments, including transportation arrangements.
- Assemble information for appointments and manage elder transfers and discharges as assigned.
- Maintain records of staff in-service attendance.
- Attend in-service programs to ensure compliance with government regulations.
- Transport elders to appointments as needed.
- Participate actively in the Eden journey.
- Assist with other duties to support the Core Team and fulfill St. John’s mission, vision, and values.
Requirements
- Secretarial and/or health care experience preferred.
- Ability to interact with elders.
- Technical competence in MS Word, email, and AOD.
- Excellent phone skills.
- Good clerical and organizational skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk.
- Ability to manage interruptions and multiple tasks.
