About the Role
This role involves supervising groups of People on Probation as they complete their Community Payback hours, contributing to rehabilitation, reparation, and public protection by effectively delivering court-ordered sentences. You will provide pro-social role modeling, develop practical life skills, and support desistance from offending.
Responsibilities
- Supervising work groups of offenders serving a community sentence.
- Driving service vehicles to transport people or equipment.
- Performing all work site supervision tasks.
- Working with service users to ensure tasks are carried out to the best of their ability.
- Working alongside people to demonstrate good practice.
- Leading small teams to complete unpaid work hours.
- Motivating individuals to complete manual tasks to pay back for harm caused.
- Supervising tasks such as clearing overgrowth, restoring community facilities, planting trees, laying flowerbeds, litter picking, and graffiti removal.
- Engaging with People on Probation with professionalism, care, and respect.
- Managing sensitive information appropriately.
- Following clear processes.
Requirements
- Must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence.
- Must be available for a full-day assessment event on Thursday 5th November.
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
- Must have and maintain the legal right to live and work in the Civil Service and in the United Kingdom.
- Candidates who do not meet the minimum benchmark at either the Sift or Interview stage will not be eligible to reapply for the same role for six months.
- All offers of employment will be made strictly in merit order.
- All candidates are subject to security and identity checks prior to taking up post.
- Must be able to drive Community Payback minibuses, transport equipment and travel to project sites.

- Practical skills or trade experience (e.g., painting and decorating, carpentry, gardening, grounds maintenance, construction, landscaping, general maintenance).

- Comfortable undertaking physical work, often outdoors in community settings.

Experience Level
- New entrants are expected to join on the minimum of the pay band.
- Existing Civil Servants will have their salary calculated in accordance with the Departments pay on transfer / pay on promotion rules.
Salary/Compensations
- £28,064 - £33,549
- Starting salary will be £28,064
