About the Role

The Judicial and Legal Services Policy Directorate is recruiting for a Senior Policy Advisor in the Judicial Engagement Team. This role involves supporting preparations for high-level meetings between the department and senior judges, managing meetings with judicial associations, and increasing departmental awareness of the judiciary and judicial engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the preparation of briefing materials for ministers and senior officials for meetings with the senior judiciary.
  • Managing preparations for meetings between the department and judicial associations.
  • Supporting the judicial engagement team to increase wider departmental awareness and understanding of the judiciary and judicial engagement.

Requirements

  • Must be a current civil servant or employee of an accredited non-departmental public body (NDPB) at the point of accepting the role.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of teams across the department and beyond, establishing strong working relationships.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and sound judgment.
  • Adept at managing a demanding workload and prioritizing and organizing effectively.
  • Experience of working with judges is desirable.
  • Understanding of the legal system and the constitution is desirable.
