About the Role

The Law Commission is recruiting for a HEO Publications Officer in the Communications team. This role is for someone who takes pride in producing well-designed, accessible documents and understands the importance of publication production.

Responsibilities

  • Guide colleagues through the full publication production lifecycle, from finished text to final printed or digital product.
  • Work closely with external designers, translators, and printers to deliver high-quality, accessible publications on time and within budget.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring publications meet brand guidelines and accessibility standards.
  • Own the relationship with the Ministry of Justice Parliamentary team and their printers for publications laid before Parliament.
  • Review and propose improvements to internal guidance and production processes.
  • Get involved in wider communications team work, including digital, media, press relations, and communications in Wales.

Requirements

  • A grounding in project or account management in a publishing, communications, or creative production environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the publication production process, including working with designers, printers, and translators.
  • Experience of managing multiple concurrent projects is essential.
  • Familiarity with government accessibility requirements is desirable.
  • Awareness of AI and how it can improve processes is desirable.
  • Experience of parliamentary or government publication processes is desirable.
  • A working understanding of design software (Adobe InDesign and/or Photoshop) is desirable.
  • Background in a legal, policy, or research environment is desirable.
