About the Role

Under general guidance, operates x-ray equipment to assist in the safe and efficient diagnosis and assessment of patient conditions, in accordance with established procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Inputs patient history information at time of exam/test into the practice management system and scans relevant medical documentation.
  • Ensures patient safety is maintained at all times.
  • Maintains a sterile environment and observes standard infection control precautions.
  • Completes necessary written documentation for accurate patient care and billing.
  • Performs radiographs and bone density studies as requested, explaining procedures and answering patient questions.
  • Arranges and adjusts mobilization and supportive devices for patient safety and comfort; positions patient for optimal diagnostic views.
  • Adjusts fluoroscope equipment to the proper setting for each procedure.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment, and/or reagents, and may order or escalate needs.
  • Receives supply orders and confirms accuracy of delivery.
  • May assist with cost control.

Requirements

  • Graduate of approved school of radiography.
  • Approximately 2 years of experience working as an X-Ray technologist is preferred.
  • Experience as a registered technologist in another radiology modality may be applicable.
  • Current, active and unrestricted New York State License in Radiographic Technology (R).
  • Temporary license issued by New York State Department of Health is acceptable; permanent license must be obtained prior to temp license expiration.
  • ARRT (R) Certification.
  • BLS Certification (issued by the American Heart Association).
  • This position requires the occasional lifting of equipment and patients.
