About the Role

March of Dimes Canada is seeking to fill 3 part-time, permanent Personal Support Worker positions in the Central Toronto area to assist clients with non-medical daily living activities and promote independence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist consumers in their homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures.
  • Provide personal care.
  • Assist with lifts and transfers.
  • Provide assistance with rising and retiring.
  • Perform bowel and bladder care procedures.
  • Assist with meal preparation and feeding.
  • Assist with range-of-motion exercises.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties.
  • Perform all duties professionally while respecting consumers' dignity, privacy, and rights.
  • Maintain a safe environment for consumers and staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities.
  • Knowledge of independent living or consumer-centred care.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform attendant care duties, including transferring, lifting, and bowel and bladder routines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Completion of a Physical Demands Self-Analysis upon hire.
