About the Role

The Senior Manager, Cybersecurity directs and oversees the CCS's cybersecurity program, ensuring effective management of cybersecurity risks, security governance, compliance, and quality assurance. The role involves leading the cybersecurity team, establishing and enforcing security policies, overseeing risk assessments, audits, vulnerability management, and providing strategic guidance on security architecture and emerging threats.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the cybersecurity team, including performance management, skill development, and workforce planning.
  • Assign and prioritize tasks within the team to ensure effective implementation of cybersecurity operational, strategic, and governance activities.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of cybersecurity team members.
  • Establish team objectives and align team activities with departmental priorities and organizational goals.
  • Oversee the planning and coordination of cybersecurity initiatives and day-to-day operational activities.
  • Maintain and enhance the cybersecurity operating model to ensure clear accountability, efficient execution, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and updating of cybersecurity policies and standards, including related governance documentation, such as AI governance.
  • Define and oversee governance processes for risk acceptance, compliance requirements, and third-party risk management, including assessment standards, risk treatment expectations, and remediation tracking.
  • Lead security audits and quality assurance activities, including evidence management and tracking of remediation to completion.
  • Provide oversight and coaching for vulnerability management and governance, including tracking remediation and its implementation in collaboration with responsible stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain a regular reporting cadence to leadership on risk posture, control effectiveness, key trends, and cybersecurity program progress.
  • Review, approve, and disseminate the security reference architecture and design patterns.
  • Provide security direction for new or evolving technology solutions in alignment with approved security reference architecture and design patterns.
  • Monitor and manage shadow IT risks in collaboration with IT operations and business owners.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders to strengthen security practices and support organizational priorities.
  • Foster a high-performance culture that leverages the unique talents and strengths of each team member while encouraging their growth and development.
  • Contribute to our culture of Belonging, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (BIDE) by ensuring all staff feel represented, valued, and heard in all aspects of their identity, including gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, and sexuality.
  • Perform any other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Degree or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Relevant accreditations such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, GIAC, or other equivalent certifications are an asset.
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in a related field and in progressively more senior roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity governance, risk management, quality assurance, or compliance.
  • Proven experience in managing teams, including coaching, mentoring, and team development.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, standards, and related governance frameworks.
  • Experience overseeing audit processes, vulnerability management, and third-party risk management.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to effectively coordinate cross-functional initiatives in a complex technology environment.
  • Experience presenting cybersecurity risks, priorities, and recommendations to senior management in a risk-based approach.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is strongly desired, with French being an asset due to the organization's national operations and the need for effective communication across regions.
  • For positions based in Quebec, French is required. Knowledge of another language may be required depending on the nature of the duties and business needs.
