About the Role

Use your actuarial expertise and commercial judgement to influence pricing decisions, customer outcomes, and market position within Standard Life's Individual Annuity business. Gain hands-on exposure to Lifetime and Fixed-Term Annuity products, combining market insight, customer behaviour, and actuarial analysis to shape competitive strategies and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze pricing competitiveness and market insight, identifying opportunities to balance customer value, competitiveness, and profitability.
  • Produce pricing MI and translate data into clear commercial insight and recommendations.
  • Implement pricing changes within production environments, ensuring accuracy and appropriate controls.
  • Support the development and review of pricing bases and assumptions.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of Lifetime and Fixed-Term Annuity products.
  • Undertake pricing calculations and analyze proposition, market, and business data to support decision-making.
  • Make recommendations to senior colleagues based on analysis and emerging market insight.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve tools, processes, and overall pricing capability.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the business, developing an understanding of how pricing decisions support wider commercial ambitions.

Requirements

  • Part-qualified actuarial status with relevant insurance experience and a commitment to achieving full qualification.
  • Experience and understanding of pricing within a retail flow business; individual annuity pricing experience is particularly valuable.
  • Understanding of key pricing metrics and relevant regulatory frameworks, including Solvency II and IFRS.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, coupled with a practical problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to translate analysis and complex information into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Strong working knowledge of tools such as Excel, VBA, and Power BI.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to build relationships across different teams.
  • Proactive and curious approach, with a desire to continue building both technical and commercial knowledge.
