About the Role
We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer to build data pipelines and serve as a thought leader. Data is central to our operations, and we need someone who can ensure its availability and accessibility across the company to support AI-driven decision-making. You will be responsible for building key components of our data platform, including a data catalog, semantic layer, security posture, and AI-ready data access, leveraging our existing Redshift, Dagster, and dbt infrastructure.
Responsibilities

- Enable data consumers to build models efficiently and quickly.
- Develop new capabilities such as data catalogs and semantic layers to improve data discoverability.
- Establish data security standards, including tokenization, RBAC, and row-level security.
- Provide high-quality patterns and act as the expert on data production and consumption best practices.
- Determine methods for making data usable, including reverse ETL and AI agent accessibility.
- Educate product engineering teams on evolving data practices and building DDD-based data products.
- Train non-technical users on data consumption using AI tools without SQL knowledge.
- Evangelize new practices and patterns to maintain company innovation and agility.
- Contribute to data pipelines using Python.
- Build CI/CD pipelines for data products.
- Develop new data tests for dbt.
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on experience across the data ecosystem, including modern ETL/ELT, orchestration, data warehouses, columnar stores, and BI tooling.
- AI-native mindset with experience using AI tools daily and a drive to explore further.
- Experience with data warehouses (Redshift or Snowflake), data pipeline tools (Dagster), dbt, and medallion architecture.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Experience leading a horizontal Data Engineering team, collaborating with analytics and product engineering teams.
- Mentorship experience with both data engineers and members of other teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bias toward action and process-building.
