About the Role
The Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for the design and development of hardware initiatives in communications, consumer products, and EV charging products.
Responsibilities
- Design and development of niche consumer hardware products for the grid edge to support the energy transition, including consumer solar and batteries, EVs, home automation, and consumer energy management.
- Collaboration with the development team to understand use cases and create products that meet customer needs.
- Research and application of new technologies in operating systems, business applications, and GUIs on embedded hardware products.
- Configuration, building, and deployment of embedded Linux OS with drivers on customized hardware platforms.
- Development of communication interfaces such as DNP, MQTT, OPC UA, and others.
- Creation of test applications and test plans to ensure code quality and reliability.
- Learning and immediate application of new technologies and skills to solve problems.
- Collaboration with hardware engineers to bring up prototypes and troubleshoot issues.
- Support of customer interactions including technical discussions and demonstrations.
- Development of presentation and/or data sheet collateral as needed.
- Other technical and engineering duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science degree with experience in embedded software design and development.
- Software development experience.
- Embedded Operating Systems experience.
- Experience in design of embedded software on hardware products.
