About the Role

The Chef is responsible for the overall management of the kitchen, providing nutritional daily meals in an organized environment, and supervising sanitary food preparation and delivery systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the ordering, receiving, preparation, cooking and serving of food.
  • Maintain accurate food and supply inventory levels.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen in compliance with applicable health codes and regulations.
  • Train the client population in proper sanitary procedures.
  • Ensure that the client population is trained in various food preparation responsibilities.
  • Prepare menu in accordance with the weekly cycle menu.
  • Maintain recipe records/production records.
  • Follow and oversee established daily kitchen closing procedures.
  • Ensure that a monthly inventory and order is sent to the NYS Office of General Services.
  • Ensure that all documentation pertaining to the operation of the food services department is kept on file as pertaining to regulations.
  • Ensure that equipment is cleaned daily and is in operational condition.
  • Recommend new menu suggestions.
  • Order and prepare any food items for special events, i.e. banquets, out of house trips, etc.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a health care, school or social service setting.
  • Experience working with adolescents with co-occurring and mental health problems a plus.
  • Knowledge of State & Federal health requirements as they pertain to food preparation and storage.
