About the Role
Provide strategic leadership, management, and vision for academic Human Resources services across the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. Serve as a vital bridge between the Faculty and university-wide leadership, inspiring and mentoring a high-performing administrative team. Guide faculty leadership through the complex appointment, review, and promotion lifecycle. Advise on appointment offers for senior academic administrators, design and implement impactful onboarding experiences, and champion the Faculty's Academic Strategic Plan. Provide strategic support for new initiatives, task forces, and committees, advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities

- Liaise with senior leaders, responding to and handling matters of a complex, confidential, and sensitive nature.
- Interpret human resources policies, legislation, and guidelines.
- Implement equity and diversity initiatives across a complex multi-sector environment.
- Lead change and drive results through process evaluation and redesign.
- Develop, lead, and mentor high-functioning teams.
- Advise on appointment offers for senior academic administrators.
- Design and implement impactful onboarding experiences for chairs and directors.
- Champion the Faculty's Academic Strategic Plan.
- Provide strategic support for new initiatives, task forces, and committees.
- Advance commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Requirements
- Graduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum ten years senior administrative experience within a university setting.
- Deep familiarity with the academic HR life cycle, tenure process, and University academic HR norms.
- Demonstrated experience in liaising with senior leaders, responding to and handling matters of a complex, confidential and sensitive nature.
- Demonstrated professional experience in understanding complex issues related to organizational policies and practices.
- Proven experience leading change and driving results through process evaluation and redesign.
- Proven experience developing, leading, and mentoring high-functioning teams.
- Experience interpreting human resources policies, legislation, and guidelines.
- Demonstrated success in implementing equity and diversity initiatives across a complex multi-sector environment.
- Data-driven with experience using various tools, performance metrics and approaches for analysis, decision-making and reporting.
- Strong technical skills, including knowledge of the University of Toronto’s Administrative Management System (AMS) and a facility for working with project management tools and keeping current with new and emerging technologies.
- Strong leadership skills with ability to engage, secure support, commitment and results from others.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HR best practices and demonstrated commitment to the promotion of equity and inclusiveness in the workplace.
- Ability to work effectively with all constituents in a highly diverse community.
- Ability to influence and present ‘win/win’ solutions to effect change and problem-solve in a highly collegial setting.
- Strong integrative skills related to understanding cross functional implications and interrelationships of issues and decisions.

- Must exhibit a high degree of diplomacy and tact in all situations.
- Deep knowledge of the academic HR life cycle for clinical (MD) and non-clinical faculty, strongly preferred.
- Understanding of University governance, educational priorities, policy formation, legal obligations, reporting requirements and planning protocol.
