About the Role
This technical role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and configuration of our Middleware infrastructure (IBM WebSphere, MQ, and Cognos), supporting critical citywide applications. The position involves production maintenance and phased rollout implementation of HR/Payroll systems.
Responsibilities
- Support ongoing production maintenance and phased rollout implementation of HR, Benefits, and Timekeeping functions of HR/Payroll systems.
- Install, maintain, and configure Middleware infrastructure (IBM WebSphere, MQ, and Cognos).
- Support the infrastructure of critical citywide applications.
- Perform Middleware application upgrades and patch installations.
- Understand and debug Java errors.
- Plan, manage time according to schedules, and provide status updates.
- Document and explain symptoms and solutions to complex problems.
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience of Middleware Administration, specifically in IBM WebSphere Application Server Traditional (tWAS) and WebSphere Liberty on Linux or UNIX based platforms.
- Experience managing WebSphere Liberty server configurations including server.xml, bootstrap.properties, and jvm.options.
- Experience using Git for source control and configuration management.
- Experience using Ansible for middleware administration, automation, configuration management, and application deployments.
- Experience in administration of other associated middleware products like IBM MQ, IBM HTTP Server, IBM WebSphere Message Broker, Oracle Web logic, Cognos.
- Good understanding of relational database concepts and experience in SQL.
- Previous experience working with an enterprise wide, large scale environment.
- Ability to support 24x7 and be able to work nights/weekends as required.
- Ability to perform detailed Root Cause Analysis of problems.
- Ability to work quickly to learn new applications and resolve issues.
- Ability to be self-motivated and find answers on his/her own.
