About the Role

The HCIB Regulatory Affairs Senior Manager will be part of a small team responsible for identifying and overseeing regulatory compliance developments, supporting the Group in addressing regulatory change, and managing regulatory engagements for HSBC Bank plc (HCIB) / Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) with UK core regulators.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an SME for HCIB-led regulatory engagements, primarily with UK regulators, including cross-border work.
  • Advocate for a "no surprises" approach in regulatory engagement, ensuring understanding and communication of regulators' agendas and requests.
  • Support senior management, including HCIB/CIB OpCo and NEDs, in regulatory engagements through briefing notes, meeting attendance, and record maintenance.
  • Engage on regulatory matters with 2LoD colleagues, Global Businesses, Global Functions, and Infrastructure teams.
  • Collaborate with counterparts across the HCIB/Europe region to oversee regional engagements and ensure consistency across regions.
  • Provide high-quality reporting and guidance on regulatory engagements and trends for internal governance and senior stakeholders.
  • Work with regional counterparts to implement consistent standards for regulatory engagements and drive efficiencies.
  • Provide horizon scanning for new or changed regulatory developments, particularly for the MSS business, and inform relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure high-level analysis of inflight regulatory developments impacting HCIB, especially MSS, and support detailed analysis.
  • Advise and oversee regulatory change implementation by the 1LoD with Compliance and other 2LoD colleagues, escalating issues and reporting on completion.
  • Support implementation projects for regulatory changes.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to respond to key consultations on regulatory developments and advocate for legislative changes beneficial to customers, strategy, and stakeholders.
  • Provide high-quality reporting and MI on key regulatory developments to HCIB/CIB stakeholders and for internal governance.
  • Support and oversee the use of the horizon scanning tool (RAPid2) and regulatory mapping tool (RegMap), and assist with simplification initiatives.

Requirements

  • Experience interacting with regulators or government bodies, particularly UK regulators.
  • Experience interacting with and briefing Senior Management and Non-executive Directors on regulatory topics.
  • Broad knowledge of financial services regulation.
  • Prior experience in Markets and Securities Services (MSS).
  • Experience working at a UK regulator is an advantage.
  • Broad knowledge of regulatory compliance risks and their application in managing regulatory relationships.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced and complex environment.
  • Willingness to be flexible on assignments, including routine and ad-hoc tasks.
